Nothing Great Happens Without Commitment

“Nothing Great Happens Without Commitment”

Chris McGowan, Pastor • Sunday, July 7, 2002

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” - 2 Chronicles 16:9

I.  THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING _____________________.

      A.  My commitments reveal my ________________________.

“No one can serve two masters.”     - Matt. 6:24

      B.  My commitments determine my _____________________.

“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”                - Mark 8:36-37

II. A _________________________ TO COMMITMENT

      A.  We get _______________________________.

"The attractions of this world, the delights of wealth, the search for success and the lure of nice things come in and crowd out God."    - Mark 4:19 (LB)

III. THE _________________________ FOR COMMITMENT TO CHRIST

“So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

                                                                                - Matt. 6:31-33

      A. The short-term benefit: God takes care of my _________________.

      B. The long-term benefit:

"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'                      - Matt. 25:23

            1. __________________________

            2. __________________________

            3. __________________________

“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will.”                                                        - Psalm 37:5 (LB)
