In this 3-part series, Pastor Chris helps us look at several life lessons we learn from the prophet Jonah. You'll discover that you can run from God, but you can't outrun God. This series enforces the truth that God desperately wants to fulfill His purpose in our lives and He will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
You
can run from God, but you can’t
outrun God. When we make conscious
decisions to run from God, we end up
running to strange and dangerous
places. Runners eventually
self-destruct and those closest to
them suffer the most. As we suffer
the consequences of our running, God
does not chase us, He waits
patiently for us.
To
run from God is to run from His
provision and protection. His
discipline is very thorough, and God
is often behind the circumstances
that bring runners to the end of
their running. God still has a
purpose for those of us who run.
Sometimes
there is a little of Jonah in all of
us. We are more concerned about our
comforts than we are about the
people around us and where they will
spend eternity. God often works
behind the scenes to prepare
people's hearts to hear and receive
the message. It's up to us to
realize that God is a God of mercy
and love, and often doesn't give
people what we think they deserve.
