Pastor Appreciation Month
October is Pastor Appreciation Month and the perfect time to commit to praying for and encouraging our ministers on a regular basis. Shirley Dobson, Chairman of the NDP Task Force, has stated, "Our pastors are on the front lines in the effort to defend our faith and our families. We must hold them before the Lord in prayer … I have a very tender heart for pastors, because they've been there for all of us when we have been in times of crisis—when we've been in times of suffering … we owe these pastors a debt of gratitude that we'll never be able to pay.” Everyone is encouraged to show your own personal appreciation to Chris (Sr. Pastor), James (Pastor of Worship Arts) and Brent (Youth Director) through out the month of October. 

Life Chain Sunday
On National Life Chain Sunday, October 7, prolifers in America and Canada will, for the 20th year, line sidewalks in over 1,200 cities and towns to seek God’s forgiveness and His help to end abortion. You can be a part of this special event! Join us at Linnea Park (Kansas Ave. & Elm St) in McPherson at 2:00 pm. BBQ Beef Dinner & Bake Sale
Elyria Christian School will be serving a meal on Tuesday, October 9th from 11:00 am till 7:00 pm. They will be serving BBQ Beef Sandwiches (Knackies Brisket & Sauce), Baked Beans, Potato Chips, Cabbage Slaw, Coffee and Tea. Carry outs are available! The cost is a Free Will Donation. During the meal there will be singing and performances by the Elyria Students (6 of those are Calvary Kids!). Also, there will be many delicious items to purchase from their Bake Sale. Everyone is welcome to come! You may pick up a flyer at the Information Desk for more information. 

Baptismal Service
We will be having a Baptismal Service on Sunday, October 14th, during our morning worship service. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and have not yet been baptized we encourage you to do so. The Lord commands us to take the next step in our relationship with Him by being baptized. This is an awesome witness to your family and friends. If you would like to be baptized, please indicate so on your welcome card or call the church office at 241-4316 by October 11th. 

Calvary Kidz Mission Project
As a mission activity, the Calvary Kidz are participating in “Operation Christmas Child”. They will be collecting items and putting them in shoe boxes which will be sent to children living in desperate situations around the globe. Our children would like to ask for your help in this mission project. They would like for you to please help provide items for the boxes. You may bring an item for a boy or girl. Some suggestions are... 
small toys - cars, jump ropes, balls, dolls, yo-yos, stuffed animals school supplies - pencils, colors, markers coloring and picture books hygiene items - toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, brush, other items- bibles, hard candy, socks, t-shirts, hair clips, flashlights

Kidz Church
On Sunday mornings all children in kindergarten thru 6th grade are invited to participate in Kidz Church. All children will go into the worship service with their family at 10:30 am. During the service James will dismiss them to go back into the Kidz Church classroom. 

Church Secretary Position Available
Calvary has an opening for a church secretary. The hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Must posses strong computer and interpersonal skills. If you are interested in this position you may come by the office during the weekly office hours and pick up an application. If you have any questions, please contact David Bohnenblust at 241-5608.
